Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane is preparing to visit China. According to a high-level source, a five-member delegation led by him is scheduled to visit Beijing at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Although the visit is currently scheduled for the last week of Saun, the date may change, the source said.
According to a senior party leader, during the visit, the Nepali side has requested the Chinese side to arrange a meeting between President Lamichhane and Chinese President Xi Jinping. "Coordination is ongoing with the Chinese side for a meeting with President Xi," the leader said.
According to the RSP, during the visit, discussions are expected to focus on relations between the political parties of the two countries, bilateral cooperation, and contemporary regional issues.
Earlier, after achieving significant success in the Fagun elections, President Lamichhane visited India in the third week of Jestha at the invitation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During the five-day visit, he held meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top political leaders, and the Indian side formally welcomed him.
Preparations for the visit had been underway since June. Previously, the visit was planned for the third week of July, but it was postponed as a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping could not be confirmed.
