Congress General Secretary Pradeep Paudel has said that the party’s new statute has made provisions for the mandatory representation of 21 individuals under the age of 35 in the Central Working Committee.
Speaking at a program organized on Thursday on the occasion of the 44th BP Memorial Day, he said that this provision was made with the aim of transforming Congress into a youth-oriented, democratic, and technology-friendly organization.
According to Paudel, not only in the Central Working Committee but also in various party structures including regional representatives, provisions have been made to ensure the participation of youth under the ages of 35 and 30.
He informed that the Congress membership system has been made fully digital, and now every active member will have a digital ID. Stating that arrangements have been made to add, correct, and update memberships, he said that the number of members now is about the same as during the 14th General Convention.
“Congress has become the digital party with the highest number of members in Nepal,” he said, “Since all members will be connected to a single digital network, information flow, membership management, transparency, and coordination between leadership and members will become even more effective.”
He said that the digital system will also make it easier to convey the party’s views and strategies to members through social media.
General Secretary Paudel also informed that improvements will be made in the candidate selection process within the party. According to him, in the coming days, candidates will be selected through primary elections. In addition, he said that the provision of automatic representation will be ended, and all leaders and representatives will have to contest elections from the grassroots level.
