Federal Parliament members will be allowed to have their own secretaries. The Cabinet meeting has decided that members of the National Assembly and the House of Representatives will be allowed to have their own secretaries. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam informed that the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to allow MPs to have their own secretaries. 'The Cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided that MPs will be allowed to have their own secretaries,' she said.

Earlier, there was a provision for MPs to have their own secretaries with services and facilities similar to those of a branch officer. The government led by Sushila Karki, formed after the Gen-G movement, had abolished the personal secretaries provided to MPs.

Minister Gautam informed that it has been decided to provide the facility of personal secretaries to MPs by amending the Schedule to the Act on Remuneration and Facilities of Officers and Members of the Federal Parliament, 2073 BS.
