The meeting of the disgruntled faction of the Nepali Congress has begun at the new liaison office in Chundevi.

The meeting, chaired by the then acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka, includes leaders Prakash Man Singh, Shashank Koirala, Bimalendra Nidhi, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Ramesh Lekhak, Bir Bahadur Balayar, NP Savad, among others. Leader Shekhar Koirala and his faction leaders are not present at the meeting.

The disgruntled faction has opened a liaison office in Chundevi after the internal power struggle within the Nepali Congress that has been going on for six months has not been managed. The meeting was called by former president Sher Bahadur Deuba and leaders of the Khadka faction, saying that the establishment faction was not interested in party unity.

Leader Mahat said that discussions will be held on how to move forward in the meeting starting today. 'If unity is not built within the party, a conclusion will be drawn on how to move forward,' he said, 'The main agenda of the meeting is to call a national gathering.' He said that the preparations for the 15th General Convention should be carried out in a fair and independent manner, but the establishment side has neglected it.

According to Nidhi, a leader of the disgruntled party, preparations for the national gathering, coordination between leaders, and activities related to the General Convention will be conducted from this office.

Former President Deuba and Khadka-led leaders have been taking the stance that while agreement can be reached on other issues, the Central Working Committee should be adjusted. Leader Nidhi said that the Central Working Committees that came from the 14th General Convention and the Special General Convention should be 'merged'. Out of the 164-member Central Working Committee in the 14th General Convention, 111 members are currently outside the Central Working Committee. The issue of adjusting all of them has been raised by Deuba-led leaders.
