Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called a meeting of the Constitutional Council. The meeting has been called to be held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at 5 pm on Friday.
The meeting will discuss the recommendations for appointments to vacant posts in constitutional bodies, informed Bhishma Raj Angdembe, leader of the main opposition party, Nepali Congress.
Currently, two posts including the chairman are vacant in the Election Commission, one member in the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, one member in the National Human Rights Commission, and two posts including the chairman are vacant in the Muslim Commission.
Two posts including the chairman are vacant in the National Inclusion Commission. Two posts including the chairman are vacant in the Tharu Commission and two posts including the chairman are vacant in the Madhesi Commission. Three posts including the chairman are vacant in the National Natural Resources and Finance Commission. One member post is vacant in the Women's Commission.
The agenda of the meeting is to discuss appointments to these posts. While Prime Minister Shah is the chairman of the Constitutional Council, Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma, Speaker DP Aryal, National Assembly Speaker Narayan Dahal, parliamentary party leader of the main opposition party Nepali Congress Bhishma Raj Angdambe, and Deputy Speaker Ruby Kumari Thakur are members.
