The oath-taking ceremony of the office bearers and central members elected from the first general convention of the National Independent Party, except for the president, is being held today. After the oath-taking of the office bearers and central members, the way for nominating others will be opened.

RSP President Ravi Lamichhane, who was elected unopposed from the first general convention held in Chitwan from July 20 to 21, has taken the oath during the conclusion of the general convention. RSP Election Commission Chief Bhuwan KC administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lamichhane.

President Lamichhane will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected office bearers and central members. President Lamichhane's secretariat said in a statement, 'We would like to inform everyone that the oath-taking ceremony of the elected office bearers and central committee members of the historic first general convention of the National Independent Party will be held on this date, 2083 Ashar 17 at 11 am at the party's central office, Chamati.'

Vice Presidents Swarnim Wagle and Sobita Gautam, General Secretary Bipin Acharya, Joint General Secretaries Asim Shah, Nisha Dangi and Hari Dhakal, as well as 93 central members will take the oath. Initially, the election of the president and 99 central members was held in the Rashtriya Swatantra Party. Out of the 99 elected central members, 6 were elected as candidates for the office bearers.

According to the newly elected General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, Bipin Acharya, the president will propose the names of the central members to be nominated in any central committee meeting after the elected office bearers and central members take the oath. Acharya informed that there is a provision in the statute that leaders who need to be nominated as party office bearers must first be nominated to the central committee.

‘After the office bearers and central members take the oath, the way is opened for the central committee meeting.’ The chairman will present names for nomination in any meeting of the central committee that is held thereafter, which will be approved by the central committee,’ Acharya said, ‘Leaders who are nominated as office bearers must first be nominated as central members.’

After the office bearers and central members elected from the general convention take the oath, a meeting will be held and Chairman Lamichhane will propose the remaining nominees. 12 people, including senior leaders, will be nominated in the RSVP. Prime Minister Balendra Shah will be nominated as senior leader.

The remaining 11 office bearers to be nominated include 1 vice-chairman, 1 general secretary, 2 joint general secretaries, 1 spokesperson, 3 joint spokespersons, 1 treasurer and 2 joint treasurers. There is a provision in the statute that mandatory inclusion arrangements should be made in the nomination of office bearers. There is a provision that at least 4 women and 2 representatives from marginalized communities should be nominated in the nominated positions. It is also written in the statute that marginalized communities include indigenous people, Janajati, Madhesi, Dalit, Tharu, Muslims, and minorities.

The statute of the RSVP does not provide for the nomination of 51 people as central members at once. Acharya said that there is a possibility that some leaders can be nominated as central members and brought to office-bearers, and the remaining central members can be nominated in the next phase. The right to nominate them all at once or in stages lies with Chairman Lamichhane.

A tea party program will be held for the central members along with the oath-taking ceremony, and a training program will also be held after that, Acharya said. A central committee meeting is being prepared to be held immediately after the oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday. RSVP leaders have said that there is a possibility of appointing some leaders as central members and office-bearers in that meeting. There are preparations to nominate some leaders who are associated with Shah in the RSVP as office-bearers and central committee members. It is said that Sunil Lamsal will be nominated as the vice-president, Bhupdev Shah as the general secretary, and others.

Similarly, there has been a change in the list of central members elected from the first general convention of the National Independent Party. The Central Election Commission of the Nepali Congress has informed that there has been a change in the election of central members in the first general convention held in Chitwan from Ashad 7 to 12.

The Nepali Congress Central Election Commission has corrected the names of two people who were previously announced as central members. The Nepali Congress had earlier announced that Krishnaman Shrestha was elected from the Janajati cluster. However, the Nepali Congress Central Election Commission has announced that Dhruv Kumar Thapa Magar has been elected in Shrestha's place.

‘During the discussion on correcting the technical error in the announcement of the results of the elected members, while publishing the first result of the members elected in the election for the post of central member, as per the General Convention Election Procedure 2083, Krishnaman Shrestha was elected from the tribal cluster, and after studying the documents and evidence submitted during the vote results and candidacy registration, it was decided to decide that Dhruv Kumar Thapa Magar was elected,’ the decision of the RSVP Election Commission has been made.

On the other hand, the central member’s vote results have also been corrected, saying that an error has been found. The RSVP has corrected the error by saying that Som Sharma was declared elected in the vote results of Gandaki Province when Pooja Bastola should have been elected.
