Shram Sanskriti Party Chief Whip Aren Rai has demanded that the government immediately take necessary steps to reverse the decision of the World Football Federation (FIFA) to suspend the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, he said that the government should immediately take diplomatic, legal and administrative initiatives to lift the suspension of ANFA as soon as possible by fulfilling all the conditions set by FIFA.

‘The issue of third-party interference by FIFA should be resolved as soon as possible by holding high-level talks between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council and ANFA,’ he said. ‘An environment should be ensured for ANFA to independently amend its statute, conduct election processes and operate internal management in accordance with FIFA’s statute and international sports law. In addition, the legal ambiguities between the Sports Act and FIFA’s rules should be removed immediately. While maintaining necessary government regulations in the sports sector, political and administrative interference that causes problems even in the international arena should be completely eliminated. The government should immediately take the necessary diplomatic, legal and administrative initiatives to protect the future of the national team and club players and to lift the suspension on ANFA as soon as possible by fulfilling all the conditions set by FIFA.'

MP Rai also warned the government to make legal arrangements to remove the ambiguity between the existing Sports Act and FIFA rules.
