The then spokesperson of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Manish Jha, Ganesh Karki and Sagar Dhakal had also filed their candidacies for the post of General Secretary. Jha congratulated Acharya in front of journalists on his election as General Secretary.

Bipin Acharya has been elected as the General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Acharya was elected as the General Secretary through the voting that began at 12 noon on Friday for the selection of the office bearers of the RSS. He received 673 votes. The then RSS spokesperson Manish Jha (346 votes), Ganesh Karki (169 votes) and Sagar Dhakal (139 votes) had filed their candidacies for the post of General Secretary.

Acharya and Jha came together outside the general convention venue after the vote counting. In the process, Jha congratulated Acharya in front of journalists for being elected as the General Secretary. Jha congratulated Acharya before the formal announcement of the results. He was elected as the General Secretary based on the electronic voting machine and voting conducted through e-voting.

The general convention, which began on Sunday in Bharatpur, Chitwan, concluded on Friday with the election of office bearers.
