More than a thousand general convention delegates did not vote at all

In the voting for the 99 central members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) party, 40 votes were cast through e-voting and 2,959 votes were cast through electronic voting at the convention venue. Deputy Chief of the RSSPA Election Commission Ram Gurung informed that although 170 representatives were in e-voting, 40 votes were cast online by 2 pm.
Earlier, the commission had informed that 4,311 representatives had been selected for the convention. However, Deputy Chief Gurung said that the total number of voters is being confirmed now. About 1,300 representatives did not participate in the voting, saying that it will be viewed in this light.
Deputy Chief Gurung informed that the results of the voting for the central members will be made public within 3 hours. He also said that voting for the office bearers will take place after that.
There are 379 candidates for the 99 central members. Ravi Lamichhane was elected unopposed as the chairman on Tuesday. Prime Minister Balendra Shah is certain to be the senior leader.
Among the three vice-presidents, leader Swarnim Wagle, who is also the Minister of Finance, has filed his candidacy for the open vice-president. Leaders Sobita Gautam, Lima Adhikari and Dr. Toshima Karki are in the news for the women's vice-president. All three leaders are candidates for the central member. Karki, on the other hand, is rumored to be a candidate for the general secretary as well if not the women's vice-president. While Pratibha Rawal is likely to file her candidacy for the women's vice-president, she has not filed her candidacy for the central member. Rawal is likely to be a nominated joint general secretary or other office bearer.
Outgoing vice-president Wagle has filed his candidacy for the central member from the Gandaki Province open side, while Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has filed his candidacy for the open side. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has filed his candidacy for the Bagmati Province open side, while Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam has filed her candidacy for the open women's side.
Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi has filed her candidacy from Karnali, while Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta has filed her candidacy from Koshi. Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has filed her candidacy for the open central member, while Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary has filed her candidacy for the open central member for the Far West. Minister for Youth, Labor and Employment Ramji Yadav has filed his candidacy from the open Madhesi group.
The RSVP statute gives the president the right to nominate 51 members to the central committee. Leaders who are in line to become central members and office bearers through the same process have not filed their candidacy. The number of central members and office bearers nominated by the president has been increased to accommodate the leaders.
