Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Ravi Lamichhane has said that history has been made by the union of all alternative political forces that want change in Nepal. He said that in a situation where the transformative forces are divided, the old established forces are conspiring to create obstacles and prevent the elections from taking place.
'My conclusion was that if we remain divided, the old established forces will again create confusion, traps and structural obstacles and will not allow the elections to take place,' he said. 'After I came out of prison, the initiative to bring together various alternative streams, supporters of good governance, equality and change intensified. A detailed dialogue has started with all groups associated with the alternative political movement for a common political future.'
He said that the legacy of the alternative political movement, which started under the leadership of Ujjwal Thapa, the leader of the alternative political movement, has become the capital of the RSS. He said that the integration of a group of the Ujjaya Nepal Party, some founding leaders of Naya Shakti, an influential group of citizens' liberation, Hamro Party Nepal and various parts of the Tharuhat Tharuwan Movement has also increased the size of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He mentioned that the integration with the then mayor of Kathmandu, Balendra Shah, has caused a big wave.
'The integration with Balendra Shah, who became a symbol of disobedience and rebellion, showed the courage to fight misrule alone, played a decisive role in development through the leadership of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and set moral standards by rejecting even the Prime Minister's proposal during the Gen-G movement, and independent friends associated with him, caused a big wave,' Lamichhan wrote in the report.
He said that the people gave an unprecedented support in the elections held as a result of the unified effort and provided a historic mandate of about two-thirds. 'It is rare in world politics for any political force to achieve such a level of success in less than four years. "This is not just an electoral victory, it is the people's belief in change, a rejection of the old system and the declaration of a new political era," he said. "This would not have been possible if we had been separate. Now we have a historic responsibility to transform this mandate not just as a political victory - but into a real governance practice of good governance, transparency and systemic reform."
