The inauguration venue of the first national convention of the Nepali Congress (NRC) starting on Sunday, the Guest House Chaur in Bharatpur has been bustling since Saturday. The organizers have informed that all preparations, including the construction of the stage, have been completed. A large board with the convention logo with the pictures of party president Ravi Lamichhane and senior party leader and Prime Minister Balendra Shah has been hung at the inauguration venue.

While preparations were underway, a crowd of party supporters and well-wishers were seen dancing and singing and taking photos/videos. Representatives from various districts including Kathmandu were found there. Some were busy arranging accommodation. Some were observing the atmosphere of the convention after arranging accommodation. Those who planned to rise to various positions in the convention were busy introducing themselves and asking for votes.

Saroj Pokharel, the convention representative from Gorkha, said that since many of his friends were in Chitwan, he was staying at a relative's house. 33 delegates from Gorkha are participating in the general convention. Sharada Parajuli is the founder of the party in Gorkha. She said that she was proud to be attending the party's biggest event as a general convention delegate for the first time. 'We worked hard to establish the party in the minds of the people, now we will move forward in a more systematic manner after holding the general convention,' said Sharada.

General convention delegate Narendra Khadka, who arrived from Doti, said that he was happy because it was an important moment in the party's life even though it was a summer program. Doti's group was planning to stay at a hotel in Narayangadh. Doti's own representative Sharada Shrestha said that she was excited that the general convention would give new energy to the party more than the heat of Chitwan.

While coordinating with the general convention delegates, she met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Chitwan District Committee Secretary Tejendra Poudel at the guesthouse square. He said that the general convention delegates were arriving in droves. Although most of them live in Bharatpur area, some have gone to Sauraha. In Sauraha area too, convoys of vehicles of delegates from different districts for the general convention were seen on Saturday afternoon. ‘40 percent of them will probably stay in Sauraha, because after coming to Chitwan, many people want to go to Sauraha, a tourist area,’ said Secretary Poudel.

The general convention delegates have to stay in a hotel at their own expense. Rajan Gautam, coordinator of the accommodation and food subcommittee and central member of the party, said that the delegates were informed in advance about the details, services, facilities and prices of the hotel. Based on that, he said that the delegates booked the hotel themselves. He said that the party has made the necessary coordination. Food and refreshments will be arranged for the delegates at the closed session venue from Monday.
