National Independent Party (NISP) General Secretary Kavindra Burlakoti has said that the party will not encourage collective candidacies in the general convention. Speaking to Kantipur in Bharatpur, Chitwan, Burlakoti said that their practice so far has been the same.
'Collective candidacies increase group politics and can leave friends with individual abilities behind,' he said, 'That is why the party is in favor of competition based on merit.'
He said that collective candidacies, collectively seeking votes or campaigning are also considered against the code of conduct. 'We had discouraged such practices in previous conventions as well,' he said, 'There is a system for each member to individually run for the post they want and campaign in their own way.'
Stating that all preparations for the party's first general convention starting on Sunday have been completed, he also said that the NISP will hold the general convention in a way that gives a different message.
The inauguration of the general convention of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is being held at the Guest House Chaur in Bharatpur and the closing session is being held at the Industrial Exhibition Center of the Chitwan Industry Association.
