Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has claimed that his visits to India and China have contributed to promoting the country's national interests.
While answering questions raised by lawmakers during the discussion on the budget of his ministry in the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Minister Khanal also expressed his commitment to make maximum use of the budget allocated to his ministry and complete the assigned tasks economically and effectively.
He said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has completed the important visits and meetings scheduled for the current fiscal year, including bilateral and multilateral meetings, regional and international cooperation promotion.
'After the formation of the new government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including visits to India and China, telephone talks with counterparts and other diplomatic activities, have contributed to promoting the national interests,' he said.
A total of Rs 8.73 billion has been approved for the ministry and its subordinate bodies for the upcoming fiscal year, Minister Khanal said. He said, 'I express my commitment to efficiently and effectively complete the tasks assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the policies and programs of the Government of Nepal, making maximum use of the allocated budget.'
