UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the party should move forward by further uniting ideologically, organizationally and politically.
Addressing the 'Election Review and Collection of Suggestions on Party Reorganization' program organized by the UML Central Committee and managed by the Provincial Committee at the Kanchenjunga Hotel in Biratnagar from Tuesday, Chairman Oli said that the current need is to be united rather than to make mutual accusations.
He said that a weak attitude and disappointment should not be spread within the party and that all leaders and workers should move forward together. 'Today's need is not to gnash teeth or accuse each other, but to move forward together,' Oli said, 'We should not create a weak mindset or give up, but unite and strengthen the party ideologically and organizationally.'
Chairman Oli clarified that the party's standing committee made the decision with the aim of uniting the party and that no decision has been made to remove or expel anyone. He recalled past political events, claiming that the criticism and allegations against him were baseless. 'I was detained for 13 days, but had to be released after no case could be confirmed,' he said.
The two-day program is being attended by vice-chairmen Ram Bahadur Thapa, Bishnu Poudel and Prithvi Subba Gurung, secretaries Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Sherdhan Rai and Hikmat Kumar Karki, as well as central and provincial committee members.
