Labor Culture Party Chairman Harkaraj Rai has drawn the government's attention to the latest police action. Speaking during a special session on Monday, MP Rai raised questions about national pride and citizen security.
MP Rai has drawn the attention of the Speaker to remove Prime Minister Balendra Shah's controversial statement in Parliament from the record.
Stating that the demand for the Prime Minister to correct his statement remains unchanged, he said that he is eagerly awaiting the Speaker's order to remove the statement.
Similarly, he protested against the police taking into custody youths protesting the encroachment and intimidation of Nepali citizens by the Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in the Susta area. He drew the attention of the Home Minister to the police taking into custody Ajay Sodari and Birjan BK, who were peacefully protesting in Maitighar Mandal, and trying to file a false case.
Questioning the recent police action, MP Rai criticized the incident of students' mobile phones being snatched and destroyed and a poor tempo driver's vehicle being thrown off a cliff.
'Those who commit inhumane acts like snatching students' mobile phones and drowning them in water and pushing a poor tempo driver off a cliff should be held accountable,' he said. He also demanded compensation for the victim driver. Noting that security personnel are involved in disorderly activities like throwing stones at the roofs of ordinary people's houses, he commented that it is dangerous for democracy for citizens to feel fear instead of security in the presence of the police.
