The first district convention of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) Chitwan held on Sunday elected Engineer Mini Madhav Khanal as the president.

Three people were in the fray for the post of president. Engineer Khanal was elected with 222 votes, while another competitor, Krishna Prasad Bhusal, received 111 votes. Bhusal is the current chairman of the ad hoc working committee.

Prakash Acharya, who contested for the presidency, received 22 votes. Nirmala Giri has been elected as the vice-chairman of the working committee and Tejendra Prasad Poudel as the secretary.

Voting for the formation of the working committee was held at the convention inaugurated by Chitwan-1 MP Hari Dhakal. Out of the 409 delegates in the district convention, 364 people participated in the voting.
