The Nepali Congress Central Disciplinary Committee has initiated action against three leaders of Sankhuwasabha, including former minister and former invited central member Deepak Khadka. The committee meeting held on Monday initiated action against them on charges of interfering with party candidates in the elections held last Falgun.

The committee has directed Khadka, District Working Committee Secretary Kumar Babu Adhikari and General Convention Representative Thal Kumar Linkha to submit a written explanation within 5 days.

The letter signed by committee secretary Dinesh Thapa Magar alleges that they have organized interference against the party's official candidate, misled cadres and supported the opposition party's candidate.

According to the committee, the investigation process was initiated after a complaint was received about planned activities against the official candidate of the Nepali Congress, Deepan Kumar Shrestha, in Sankhuwasabha during the elections held on Falgun 21, 2082.

The clarification letter alleges that leader Khadka made public statements against the party leadership and policy at a door-to-door program organized in Mud Bazaar of Dharmadevi Municipality on February 12. It is claimed that he incited the cadres to make independent decisions by saying that he would not accept the working committee elected from the special general convention and that the Congress would not win the election.

Similarly, District Secretary Adhikari and General Convention Representative Linkha are accused of engaging in anti-organizational activities under Khadka's direction. The complaint states that they pressured the cadres not to participate in the election program, and that they supported the opposition candidate internally despite appearing to be in favor of the Congress from the outside.

The disciplinary committee has held that such activities constitute a serious violation of discipline under Article 34 of the Congress Statute, 2017 (with amendments). The committee has sought an explanation from the concerned leaders as a last resort, asking them 'why no action is being taken?'.

The committee has also warned that if a satisfactory answer is not received within the stipulated time, further action will be taken as per the party statute.
