After returning from Delhi, Foreign Minister Khanal said: We will resolve the border dispute diplomatically.

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has said that the border dispute with India will be resolved diplomatically . Talking to media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday after returning home after a three-day visit to India, Minister Khanal claimed that the visit was fruitful . 

He also said that there has been concrete progress in making Nepal-India relations practical and technology-friendly . Minister Khanal also said that discussions were held with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on mutual cooperation in various fields, diplomacy and border-related issues  . ‘It has been the position from the beginning to resolve border-related issues through diplomacy and the existing mechanisms . The mechanisms are currently working in the same manner . Now, discussions were held in the manner of resolving them through diplomatic means,’ he said . 

During the visit, he said that there was a mutual understanding to start full operation of person-to-person cross-border payment transactions in 2023 as per the agreement signed between Nepal Clearing House Limited and National Payments Corporation of India.

In the field of technology, he also informed that an agreement was exchanged between the Center for Digital Public Infrastructure under the School of Engineering of Kathmandu University and the Digital India Bhasini Division of India to co-build a national digital public infrastructure for the development of a 'Voice First' language translation platform.

Minister Khanal also mentioned that discussions were held on the issue of operating the Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa and informed that a meeting of the technical committee would be held soon. Minister Khanal had visited India at the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
