The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Upendra Yadav in the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal split dispute.

On Thursday, a full bench of Supreme Court Justices Kumar Regmi, Mahesh Sharma Poudel and Shrikant Poudel ruled that the writ petition will be issued to the Yadav-led JSP Nepal.

The Commission had registered their party after leaders including Ashok Rai, who left JSP Nepal, applied to register another party with the Election Commission. But Yadav had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, arguing that it was illegal to register another party based on the application submitted by leaders who left his party.

The court has ruled that the Election Commission's decision to register the application filed by Ashok Rai's party for party split was illegal. The full text of the judgment has not been made public. After the full text of the judgment, the Commission will have to decide again in the case of the Rais.
