The government task force is taking suggestions from former presidents Ram Baran Yadav and Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday to prepare a constitutional amendment debate paper.
The task force had also requested representatives of political parties to go with them to seek suggestions from Yadav and Bhandari. But they have refused. The NCP and the Rastriya Janamorcha have said that although they are ready to make suggestions on behalf of their parties on constitutional amendment, they will not go with the government task force to seek suggestions from the former president.
The Congress has not yet held discussions with the government task force for suggestions on constitutional amendment. The UML, on the other hand, had once sent a Central Office Chief Secretary Bhishma Adhikari to Adhikari. The Congress and the UML are preparing to form a separate task force and prepare a report for constitutional suggestions.
Dev Gurung, a member of the NCP's constitutional amendment task force, said that he would not go as an observer when the task force, coordinated by Prime Minister Balendra Shah's political advisor Asim Shah, takes suggestions. 'The government task force is taking suggestions on constitutional amendment.' We will make suggestions on behalf of the party, but the government task force does not need to go as observers to seek suggestions from other parties,' he said.
Rastriya Janamorcha General Secretary Manoj Bhatta said that it is not necessary for the party's representatives to go with the task force to seek suggestions from former presidents. 'We will make suggestions to the government for constitutional amendments.' However, the government task force has decided not to go to seek suggestions from former presidents,' he said.
