Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he is eager to cooperate with the new government of Nepal. In a meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Ravi Lamichhane in New Delhi on Wednesday, he said that Nepal is a priority partner.

Informing about the meeting through social media, Modi said, 'Nepal is a priority partner under our Neighborhood First Policy and we are eager to cooperate with the new government to take the special and multifaceted relations between the two countries to further heights.'

Modi also welcomed President Lamichhane's desire to work together for a common and prosperous future and said that he fully agreed.

Modi was accompanied by high-ranking officials from the Indian side in the meeting, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, India's National Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri and others.

The Nepali team that met with Modi included President Lamichhane, his wife Nikita Poudel, Joint General Secretary Bipin Acharya, Secretariat member Deepak Bohara and Personal Secretary Pradeep Acharya. Nepal's Acting Ambassador to India Surendra Thapa was also present during the talks.
