Parties have protested in the National Assembly over Prime Minister Balendra Shah's statement regarding the Nepal-India border in the House of Representatives meeting. UML MP Ram Kumari Jhankri has raised questions on Prime Minister Shah. In the National Assembly meeting on Monday, MP Jhankri demanded that Prime Minister Shah publicly apologize for his statement. Jhankri said that Prime Minister Shah spoke against the national interest by saying that Nepal had encroached on India's land when India was encroaching on Nepal's land.

'If Nepal has encroached on the border, in whose interest is the Prime Minister of Nepal? We are ashamed. The question has arisen whether such a Prime Minister can protect Nepal's self-respect, Nepal's nationality, and national integrity?' said Jhankri.

Jhankri, who is also a former minister, also questioned the hidden mood behind Prime Minister Shah's statement. 'What is the Prime Minister's mood? It doesn't seem to be careless,' she said. Jhankri also raised the issue of India crossing the border of Nepal and Indian security personnel harassing Nepalis at the border in the meeting. 'Not only has the border been crossed, the Indian armed forces are beating up Nepalis, and Anand Gautam was even killed,' she added. 'On the eve of the RSP President's visit to India, with what intention did Prime Minister Balendra Shah come to the House of Representatives without notice, as if he had come to a concert, and what he said, against the rules governing the operation of the House of Representatives, and saying that he would answer the MPs, I don't think it was a slip of the tongue or careless speech. There is some deep reason behind this and self-respecting Nepalis should take it seriously.' Jhankri also said that when the Indian side moved the battle pillar towards Nepal on the border, Nepali land fell into India. Jhankri objected to his statement linking such a situation of enjoyment to the border dispute.

Prime Minister Shah, while answering a question from Shram Sanskriti Party MP Aren Rai in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, had said that efforts were being made to resolve the Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura disputes diplomatically. But in the process, he had said, 'You may find one thing surprising. I also came to know after becoming Prime Minister recently that not only India has encroached on Nepal's land, Nepal has also encroached on many of India's lands.'

The National Assembly meeting has been disrupted over Prime Minister Shah's statement. Political parties have disrupted the National Assembly meeting in protest against the Prime Minister's statement.
