The Nepali Congress has demanded the government to immediately release the student leaders of the Nepal Students' Union (NSU) who were arrested during a peaceful protest against Prime Minister Balendra Shah's statement in Parliament on Sunday regarding the Nepal-India border issue.

In a statement issued by the Acting Chief Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Krishna Prasad Dulal, the demand was made for the immediate release of NSU leaders Rajkumar Basnet, Arjun Karki, Aditya Das, Dinesh Karki, Mohan Kalathoki and Gaurav Pandey, who were peacefully protesting at the South Gate of Singha Durbar against the statement made by the Prime Minister from the rostrum of Parliament regarding the sensitive issue of 'border issue' related to Nepal's sovereignty, geographical integrity and national security.
