Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged not to seek a solution in 35 minutes as the squatter problem has not been resolved in 35 years. Responding to a question raised by lawmakers in the House of Representatives, he said that it will take time as they are working on providing land and housing to the squatters.
He said that there should be no rush on such matters and replied that it will take as long as it takes. He claimed that the squatters in Kathmandu who are in a risky situation have been moved to another place.
‘Although it seems that the squatters have been chased away, this is the implementation of a plan from four years ago. Priority was given to those in Kathmandu to manage the land for the squatters.’ He said, ‘The reason for giving them priority is for their health and well-being. They themselves are working to save themselves from illness and life risks.’
He said that not only Nepal has encroached on Nepal’s land, but Nepal has also encroached on India’s land and said that work is underway. The Prime Minister requested that the distribution of funds to the cooperatives not be from government funds but from funds collected by the cooperatives themselves, and not to dwell on other matters.
Shram Shakti Nepal Party's Aryan Rai had raised questions ranging from Sukumvasi to Lipulekh and monkey control.
