The Nepali Congress has decided to intensify the active membership update and renewal campaign in preparation for the 15th General Convention.
The meeting of the party's Membership Management Central Committee held on Monday has assigned special responsibilities to central office bearers and members in all seven provinces to make the membership update fast and systematic across the country, while central representatives have also been deployed in various districts to resolve membership-related disputes.
The meeting held at the party's central office, Sanepa, under the chairmanship of Pradeep Poudel, coordinator and general secretary of the Membership Management Central Committee, in the presence of President Gagan Thapa, decided to complete the work of distributing, renewing and entering new active memberships into the central system by Jestha 21.
The meeting has distributed responsibilities to all seven provinces to make the active membership update easy and effective. The responsibility of Koshi Province has been assigned to Dila Sangraula, Bagmati to Bahadur Singh Lama, Gandaki to Muktakumari Yadav, Lumbini to Amar Singh Pun, Karnali to Janaki Singh, Madhesh to Devraj Chalise, and Sudurpaschim to Udaya Shamsher Rana.
The party has also decided to issue a circular to the district presidents to include the memberships authorized by the Active Membership Investigation Committee formed during the 14th General Convention in the renewal process as old memberships. The party expects this to ease the renewal process by reducing the membership disputes seen during the previous General Convention.
Similarly, the party has deployed central representatives in 13 districts to resolve the membership-related problems of leaders and workers who have integrated into the Congress from various parties. Representatives have been sent to Bara, Siraha, Dhanusha, Saptari, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Rautahat, Parsa, Kapilvastu, Sunsari, Surkhet, Solukhumbu and Kathmandu to resolve membership disputes and coordinate.
The Congress has also prioritized the management of membership of public relations committees located abroad. The meeting has decided to allow public relations committees from 7 countries that have completed their conventions to update their active memberships and to direct public relations committees from 15 countries that have not seen any problems to submit their convention schedules to the central office. In addition, the process of renewing membership and distributing new memberships will be taken forward in public relations committees from 7 countries that have had little contact with the central office after the 14th General Convention. It has also been decided to study the problems of public relations committees from 8 countries that have seen membership disputes and make necessary coordination to resolve them.
The meeting also decided to appoint Prem Bishwakarma, Joint Secretary of the Central Office, as the Secretary of the Party Membership Management Central Committee.
