Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) MP Lima Adhikari has demanded that the government make necessary legal arrangements to make farmers' payments mandatory within 15 days.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Thursday, she made the demand to the government, citing the fact that payments to sugarcane farmers, dairy farmers, and others have not been made for years.

'Today, the soil in our agriculturally endowed country is being soaked with the tears of farmers.' More than 140 million rupees are yet to be paid to dairy farmers in Makwanpur alone,' Adhikari said, 'This problem is not limited to one district, Mr. Speaker. This is a common problem for many sugarcane, milk, and rice farmers across the country. When a farmer has to wait months and years to get the price of his sweat. Then how does he pay the feed for his cattle and the school fees of his children on time?' That is why today, energetic youth are forced to leave their fertile land barren and choose the desert of the Gulf, Mr. Speaker. Prosperity can never be brought to the country by emptying the pockets of farmers. Mr. Speaker, the country needs not only food grains, but also food self-sufficiency. Therefore, I demand from the government – ​​a legal guarantee should be made to make it mandatory to pay farmers within 15 days.’
