Labor Culture Party Chairman Harkaraj Rai has expressed his objection in the House of Representatives, saying that the government is not accountable to the Parliament.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, he drew the attention of the Speaker to the absence of ministers in the House and the ignoring of questions raised by the MPs. Chairman Rai drew the attention of the Speaker to the non-compliance of Sub-rule 2 of Rule 15 of the House of Representatives Rules.
‘We have raised the common problems of the people in the House, not for personal interests,’ Rai said, ‘The government should respond to sensitive issues such as border disputes, price control, sources of return of savings of cooperative victims and management of squatters. However, it is regrettable that the ministers concerned are absent even in policy and program and other important discussions.’
Rai strongly demanded that parliamentary dignity be maintained and that members of the Council of Ministers be made mandatory participants in the question-and-answer session. He said that sending other representatives instead of the ministers themselves was a clear violation of the regulations.
