Congress Chief Whip Basana Thapa has accused the government of delaying the ongoing petroleum exploration project in Dailekh.
Speaking at an interaction program organized in Bhaktapur on Monday, she said that petroleum exploration work has been affected due to the failure to upgrade the Surkhet-Dailekh road. She said that the government should move forward with this ambitious project, which has the potential to transform the country's economy and be useful to Nepali consumers for more than 50 years.
Thapa commented that the essence of the constitution has been hurt by Prime Minister Balendra Shah's presence in the parliament and failure to answer questions raised by lawmakers. She alleged that the Prime Minister's absence in the discussion on policies and programs has weakened the government's sense of responsibility.
She said that the Congress will stand strongly against any activity that goes against the constitution and will fight steadfastly to protect the constitution. Thapa also claimed that it is playing the role of a constructive opposition on wrong issues by supporting the positive aspects of the government's policies and programs.
Stating that the talk of the Congress being on the verge of division is untrue, Thapa said that the beauty of the Congress and democracy is factions and internal churning. Stating that such activities are natural as the general convention approaches, she expressed confidence that the party president and top leaders will make the necessary coordination and move the party forward in a united manner.
