A question has been raised in the House of Representatives regarding the impregnation of a foreign woman by National Independent Party MP Krishna Kumar Karki. Three female MPs raised questions in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday regarding the impregnation of a Nigerian woman by MP Karki, elected from Morang-2. The main opposition, UML and NCP MPs have raised questions about the RSVP MP Karki, who is leading the government.

Congress MP Ninukumari Karna questioned that she is pregnant by a foreign woman MP and is now seeking justice. 'A Nigerian woman is seeking justice on the streets when she is pregnant and the MP concerned is out of contact. How can a public representative who traps a foreign woman in a love trap, emotionally blackmails her and leaves her stranded provide security to the citizens of his country?' MP Karna questioned.

UML MP Sajida Khatun Siddiqui said that even if you are an MP, you are equal under the law. She had named MP Karki and demanded an investigation into the matter from the Speaker. ‘Now, there is widespread news that the honorable member of Morang Constituency No. 2, Krishna Karki, has made a 26-year-old Nigerian girl, Rita Azuko, pregnant and left her stranded.’ This has embarrassed the entire House. Not only this, it has made national but also international news,’ Siddiqui said, noting that all MPs are being criticized for the incident, ‘We are all held accountable because of one MP.’ Let it be found out as soon as possible.'

Like the UML MP, Congress MP Karna also demanded, 'I demand that the truth be found and the parliament be informed through the Speaker.' UML MP Siddiqui also informed the house that various people have called her over the phone to seek justice for the woman because she has worked in the field of human rights in the past.'

NCP MP Parbati BK claimed that a ruling party MP had disappeared after impregnating a foreign woman. In the House of Representatives meeting, she expressed the view that such incidents do not send a good message to Nepal in the international arena.

'The disappearance of a ruling party MP by impregnating a Nigerian woman is everywhere on social media. This has created a very painful situation. What is the way to understand Nepalis in the international world? I understand the issue of our nationality, how foreigners view our country and how they understand us,' MP BK said, 'What is the real incident? This House wants to be clear. Even if it is just a rumor, it is not acceptable for our nationality. If it is true, then the concerned honorable person should be brought directly to justice.'

After questions were raised about MP Karki from Parliament to social media, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has started an internal investigation. General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, who is also the Chief Whip of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), informed that the party's disciplinary commission has started an investigation into MP Karki. 'After this matter came to light, the party's disciplinary commission is taking information from him on the matter. The party's disciplinary commission is investigating it internally,' Burlakoti told Kantipur. 'After the party's investigation makes a recommendation, it will enter the next phase if necessary.' After UML MP Sajida Khatun Siddiqui questioned what the truth was about RSVP MP Karki, Speaker DP Aryal indicated that a parliamentary investigation would be conducted. Speaker Aryal had said, 'My attention has been drawn to the matter raised by the honorable member and there is also Rule 220 of the (House of Representatives Rules), and I have drawn attention to that.''

Rule 220 of the House of Representatives Rules provides for a Conduct Monitoring Committee. It provides for a Conduct Monitoring Committee in the House of Representatives. The chairman of this committee is the Speaker and the deputy chairman is the Deputy Speaker. The Rules provide for a maximum of 12 members nominated by the Speaker on the basis of party representation in the House of Representatives in consultation with the Leader of the Opposition Party. The General Secretary of the Federal Parliament is to act as the secretary of this committee.

Speaker Aryal has indicated that the committee will work since the issue of MP Karki's conduct has been raised in Parliament. The Rules provide for this committee to conduct necessary investigations based on questions raised publicly or information given to the committee by someone that an MP has violated the code of conduct. During the investigation, the Rules give this committee the authority to 'obtain necessary information from the concerned member and other persons regarding questions raised regarding conduct, and to obtain necessary information from persons, organizations or media outlets raising questions regarding conduct.'
