The House of Representatives' meeting on Tuesday was adjourned for 15 minutes after the Finance Minister was absent from the discussion on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill.

UML MP Rajendra Kumar Rai, who had reached the rostrum to discuss the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the upcoming fiscal year presented by the government, took a stand not to proceed with the discussion in the absence of the minister concerned.

Despite repeated requests from Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal that the Finance Minister was coming and to proceed with the discussion, MP Rai maintained his stance. He criticized the tendency for the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to not be present in the House and stressed that the government should be accountable to the House. MP Rai, addressing from the rostrum, said that it was against parliamentary decency for the minister who presented the Appropriation Bill to not be present in the House. 'How can the discussion proceed without the person who presented the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill?' This is an act against the status quo and tradition,' he said.

After the impasse in the House due to the continuous protests of the MPs and the absence of the minister, the Speaker announced the adjournment of the meeting for 15 minutes. Earlier, MP Rai had urged the opposition to allow the House to function, saying that the government was neglecting the House.

Earlier, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh MP Amresh Kumar Singh had also objected to the absence of Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle in the discussion on the principles and priorities of the appropriation bill.
