The CPN-UML has accused Prime Minister Balendra Sah of undermining the parliament and the constitution. In a meeting of the House of Representatives held on Thursday, UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar said that the question has been raised whether the government is trying to practice something different from the democratic system of governance. 'The Constitution states that Nepal's form of government will be a multi-party competitive federal democratic republic parliamentary system of governance in pluralism,' Mahar asked, 'A question is arising here, which system of governance is the current government adopting? Is it adopting the system of governance as provided in the constitution or is it developing some other system of governance, some other system?'
'There is a question in the market, is Prime Minister Balendra Sah trying to develop a monarchy rather than democracy? There is a growing curiosity about this. This is because he has repeatedly ignored the parliament. He has repeatedly disrespected and insulted the parliament,' he added.
Mahar urged the government to be accountable to the House and the Constitution. He said that the Prime Minister should answer the questions of the people. He stressed that the Prime Minister should be present in Parliament.
