Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chief Whip Yubaraj Dulal has said that policies and programs should carry a clear political destination of a socialist-oriented economy in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.

While addressing the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, he stressed that although the government's goal of building a prosperous nation through good governance, public service delivery and equitable distribution is positive, its ideological foundation and programmatic basis should be clear.

He also commented that the commitment to building an egalitarian society based on proportional and inclusive principles as guided by the constitution has been overlooked in the policies and programs. Dulal said that although the programs introduced by the government, such as generating 30,000 megawatts of electricity in 10 years and achieving an average economic growth of 7 percent, are attractive, there is no solid basis to implement them. Chief Whip Dulal drew attention to the government's lack of attention to the utilization of the country's forest area and mineral resources.

He argued that the extraction and use of domestic mineral resources such as uranium, granite, marble, iron and petroleum will strengthen the national economy rather than external concepts such as carbon trading. He claims that a stable economy cannot be built without prioritizing domestic production and exports.

‘Thematic programs to support these slogans are not enough. Such big goals cannot be achieved through general legal and structural reforms alone,’ said Dulal.

He demands that compensation and insurance be arranged for the damage caused by wild animals such as monkeys and wild boars in the agricultural sector. He proposed that farmers should be encouraged towards farming by making legal arrangements to control such wild animals.
