NCP MP Barshaman Pun has commented that the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2083-2084 presented by the government has failed to capture a clear roadmap and direction.

Participating in the discussion on the policy and program ongoing in the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, MP Pun expressed his suspicion that the program is status quo and cannot address the expectations of the people.

MP Pun expressed dissatisfaction over not providing enough time for discussion on the policy and program. He said that while in the past there was a tradition of discussions lasting at least five days and then the budget was prepared based on pre-budget discussions, this time the time has been reduced significantly. He stressed that the Prime Minister should justify his program by facing questions from opposition party leaders in parliament.

Reminding that the people have high aspirations for a government with close to two-thirds support, MP Pun mentioned that there is no identity between the policies and programs and the electoral commitments of the ruling party.

‘Despite the Prime Minister’s policies and programs, his presence and ownership were lacking.  A new and unique practice has been seen in Parliament, where he himself presents a motion of thanks to the President and then does not support it again,’ he said.
