RSP President Ravi Lamichhane has said that it was brought only for necessary reforms. At the RSP parliamentary party meeting on Wednesday, President Lamichhane said that this government will not be able to work as the people want unless the past partisanship and wrong appointments are corrected. He also accused that earlier ordinances were brought to split parties and imprison the opposition.
He said, 'Earlier, ordinances were brought to split parties or imprison the opposition. The current practice is not to hurt anyone or provide convenience to anyone, it is for necessary reforms. This step is an exercise being done within the legal framework.' But Lamichhane did not reveal which ordinance was brought earlier and which opposition leader was imprisoned.
Citing the example of the RSVP giving the chairmanship of the Accounts Committee to the main opposition party, he said that they are serious about political behavior and democratic systems. He further said, 'There are vacancies in many constitutional commissions and missions, it is becoming difficult to take important decisions, or the acting ones are forced to make compromises and run them. We cannot just sit around waiting for time on many issues. It is necessary to show some activism and humble political aggression to work according to the expectations of the people.'
