The Nepali Congress has removed Krishna Prasad Sitaula from the position of leader of the National Assembly parliamentary party. MP Kamala Panta has been made the party leader in his place.
Sitaula, who was active in parallel activities within the party, was removed by the leader of the House of Representatives parliamentary party, Bhishma Angdembe, on Wednesday. According to the party's statute, the leader of the House of Representatives parliamentary party has the power to appoint and remove the leader of the National Assembly parliamentary party.
Sitaula was removed and Panta was made the leader of the parliamentary party in accordance with Article 12 (2) of the party's statute. Establishment-oriented leaders had also been drawing the conclusion that Sitaula was becoming the main obstacle to unity within the party.
Similarly, Angdembe has nominated Abhishek Pratap Sah as the deputy leader of the House of Representatives parliamentary party. On Wednesday, he nominated Basana Thapa as the party's chief whip and Niskal Rai as the whip.
