The Nepali Congress is preparing to withdraw the seven-day explanation asked of the then acting president of the party, Purna Bahadur Khadka.

The court has dismissed the writ petition filed by former president Sher Bahadur Deuba and Khadka in the Congress dispute case and has decided to recognize the special general convention. The central disciplinary committee meeting has been called for 3 pm today.

Congress General Secretary Pradeep Poudel said that the explanation will be withdrawn. 'Now the relevance of the clarification has ended, it will be made inactive,' Poudel said. Before the court's verdict, Khadka was asked for an explanation on Wednesday, saying that he misused the position of acting president and engaged in parallel activities.

After the court's verdict, his position as acting president has ended. Khadka has also been named as the former acting president on his social media account.

Meanwhile, President Gagan Thapa had a conversation with Khadka for about an hour on Sunday night for party unity.  After Khadka, Thapa is preparing to meet leader Shekhar Koirala.

After the meeting, Thapa said that he has started taking initiatives for unity by removing the shortcomings seen in the party. 'I have started discussions with senior leaders for greater unity of the party,' Thapa said after the meeting.
