Bhupdev Shah has been elected as the General Secretary of the National Independent Party. The meeting of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party's central committee on Monday selected Shah as the General Secretary. According to Rashtriya Swatantra Party spokesperson Manish Jha, party president Ravi Lamichhane had proposed to give Shah the responsibility of General Secretary in the central committee meeting. Jha said, 'Bhupdev Shah as the General Secretary, Sagar Dhakal and Sarita Shree Gyawali as secretariat members were proposed by the president and approved by the central committee.'

Kabindra Burlakoti is working as the General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party. It was said that two General Secretaries will be made in the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, and Shah has been brought in as the second General Secretary. Burlakoti has been given the responsibility of Chief Whip in the Rashtriya Swatantra Party parliamentary party.

Bhupdev Shah joined the Rashtriya Swatantra Party along with senior Rashtriya Swatantra Party leader and Prime Minister Balendra Shah. He was previously holding the responsibility of a central member. It was agreed to make him Joint General Secretary and give Sunil Lamsal the responsibility of General Secretary.

Shah was made General Secretary after Lamsal became the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

Shah was a candidate from Achham 2 in the House of Representatives elections. He was defeated there. After Balendra Shah became Prime Minister, preparations were made to take Bhupdev to the secretariat, but he was sent to the post of General Secretary with a plan to make him active in the party.
