The meeting called by the then acting president of the Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has begun. Leaders of non-establishment parties elected from the 14th general convention are participating at Khadka's residence in Gulfutar.

Khadka has called a meeting of his group to discuss how to move forward after the Supreme Court ruled to recognize the central working committee elected from the special general convention.

Khadka has expressed his views at the beginning of the meeting. He has informed about the internal situation of the party and sought suggestions on how to move forward in the coming days.

Koirala group did not attend

Khadka had also called leaders Shekhar Koirala and Shashank Koirala. The Koirala brothers and leaders in their group did not attend the meeting called by Khadka. They have been urging President Gagan Thapa to take the initiative for party unity.

The Koirala group meeting held in the morning at the liaison office in Bishalnagar had concluded that party unity should be maintained and decided not to attend the meeting called by Khadka. Since Shekhar was in Biratnagar, the then Vice President Dhanraj Gurung had called an informal meeting of the group. Shashank was also present in the meeting.

The Koirala group was not in favor of a special general convention. In the background of the election already contested by President Gagan Thapa, who came from the special general convention, and the court had recognized the Thapa-led working committee, the Koirala group meeting concluded that there was no other option but party unity.
