The meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) parliamentary party is going to give the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee to the main opposition party, the Congress.
The party meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday decided to finalize the names of the committee chairmen and also give the chairmanship of the Accounts Committee to the Congress.
Nominations are being registered for the chairmanship of the parliamentary committee of the House of Representatives on Thursday. The Congress will be supported by the UML and the NCP for the chairmanship of the Accounts Committee. A joint meeting of the three parties was held on Thursday itself.
It is a parliamentary tradition all over the world that the chairmanship of the Accounts Committee is given to the opposition for democratic balance and control. But earlier, the Congress and the UML had been criticized for appointing the chairman of the Accounts Committee themselves.
