Provincial Assembly member Dorna Kumar Kunwar, who resigned on Wednesday after his name was not included in the list of ministers during the cabinet reshuffle of the Gandaki Provincial Government, withdrew his resignation on Thursday. Kunwar, who had sent his resignation to Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital via email along with the cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, called on Thursday to withdraw his resignation.
Kunwar, a Congress MP elected from Baglung 2(2), was an aspirant for the ministerial post. Kunwar was angry after Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey appointed Congress MP Jit Bahadur Sherchan, elected from Baglung 2(1), as the Minister for Economic Affairs. He had sent his resignation to the Speaker and the staff of the Parliament Secretariat via email. ‘Since the hard copy of the resignation was not available to us in the presence of the MP himself, it was not registered in the Parliament Secretariat,’ said Speaker Dhita. ‘He himself called today and informed us that he would withdraw his resignation.’
Chief Minister Pandey had changed the set of ministers on Wednesday. With the addition of 4 ministers each from the ruling coalition UML and Congress, the Council of Ministers has become 9-member . Govinda Bahadur Nepali from UML has become the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management .
Yashoda Rimal has been appointed Minister for Industry and Tourism, Bhim Karki Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, and Laxman Pandey Minister for Health . Jit Sherchan from Congress has become the Minister for Finance . Nanda Prasad Neupane has been appointed Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Drinking Water, Rekha Gurung Minister for Social Development, Youth and Sports, and Namdu Gurung Minister for Forests and Environment .
