The Central Disciplinary Committee is currently meeting in Sanepa to discuss whether to take action against the then acting president of the Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, after he did not stop even after being warned to stop parallel activities. The committee had warned the then acting president, Purna Bahadur Khadka, on Chaitra 24. Since then, the committee has been meeting to discuss the same issue. After Khadka issued a statement using the party's 'leader' as the acting president regarding the arrest of CPN-UML President and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, the committee had warned him not to engage in such activities. Khadka had issued a statement on Monday opposing the membership renewal campaign that began on Baisakh 1 in order to advance the Congress general convention process. The committee meeting was called for Wednesday after the statement. A meeting of the Central Performance Committee has also been called today at 2 pm after the Disciplinary Committee meeting. General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire said that the committee will do its work based on the study and that the party will not interfere in it. He said that the Central Working Committee can only look into it if an appeal is received in the party after action is taken.

Are you trying to take action against the then President Purna Bahadur Khadka for parallel activities?

The Disciplinary Committee is independent. It has taken notice. It takes its own path. It does the work it needs to do based on its study. What we will do is see if an appeal comes against the decisions made by the Disciplinary Committee. Now, there is no question of telling the Disciplinary Committee to do this or that. The committee itself has the autonomy to work on such issues.

What is the agenda of the meeting of the Central Working Committee?
The topic is the selection of the leader of the parliamentary party. There are other internal and organizational issues.

The Working Committee should also give some policy instructions on the issue of indiscipline, right?

It is not about discipline. If someone is dissatisfied with the work done by the committee and appeals, there will be a discussion. Otherwise, there will be no discussion on this issue in the working committee.

You have been saying that parallel activities within the party are serious and objectionable, right?

You have already said this when talking about parallel activities. Considering the dignity and discipline of the party, such activities are not compatible. At present, the authority of the party is only superficial. The statement issued in parallel using the letterhead of VP Smriti Bhawan Lalitpur is of a serious nature. This is not in line with the party's tradition and discipline. On the one hand, they have come to say that the party should take the initiative for unity. Why is there no dialogue? The main leadership is talking about meeting. Right now, everyone's attention is on the court hearing on Baisakh 3. They are talking about meeting and talking. Is party unity getting further and further away? Such activities do not make it easy for party unity. To make it easy, appropriate work should be done. After taking the path of increasing distance and inciting conflict, the atmosphere will deteriorate. They have come to say that our status will remain the same as long as the case is pending in the court. The issue was even before the general election. The Congress's leadership vacancy is not even imagined by the constitution and tradition. This is not possible. It is an organization with unbroken succession. A party is like a glacier. Sometimes it dries up, sometimes it flows. The party is not a slush fund. A constitutional body has given authority and is taking over the responsibility of the party through general elections. Otherwise, no decision has been made. Whatever the court decides tomorrow, that will be it. However, saying that you do not accept the party's leadership after a constitutional commission has given legitimacy cannot be anything other than a conspiracy. They are senior leaders who have worked in the party for a long time. They are not just in the role now. They were in the role for a long time yesterday. What will the new generation learn from them after such a conspiracy?

There is also an allegation that you are trying to please yourself in the name of updating active membership. The main concern is that the old members are going to be revoked. What do you say? No.

. If someone says that he will not renew his membership, he does not have an active membership. However, the record shows that he was a member. The old leaders are our heritage. They are property. We make a special request to them. We urge and request the leaders who have been the identity of the party, who have contributed to the struggle for a long time. We will meet them. We will also make it practical. Those who are outside should return to their districts. They should go to the ward and get membership. If there is a clear practical reason for not being able to return, it can be done without physical presence. There are many ways. The facilities have increased.

Sherbadur Deuba's faction is objecting to the cancellation of the membership, right?

That is not the case. If the membership is not updated, it will only remain in the records. That is like cancellation. Updating and renewing are the same. We are trying to check once again how many members there are in the party and fraternity. We have checked through the statutory provisions. The provision for updating is in the statute. It was not done on personal whim and impulse.
