Ruby says - I didn't think of entering politics at first, but after the Gen-G movement, I felt that I was a daughter of Madhesh, and I should do something. There are many issues and problems in Madhesh, including the dowry system. I stood up for proportional representation to see if something could be done to end those issues. I will work to ensure that the country doesn't have to suffer what it has suffered so far.

The House of Representatives, which is also a result of the Gen-G movement of Bhadra 23 and 24, has been led by a Gen-G leader. The announcement that 26-year-old Rubi Kumari Thakur has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives is yet to be made. The announcement will be made at the meeting of the House of Representatives to be held at 4 pm on Friday, saying, ‘Rubi Kumari elected as the Deputy Speaker’.
Ruby, who was born in an ordinary family in Dhanusha, never imagined becoming an MP at such a young age. However, the Hark Sampang-led Shram Sanskriti Party, which was formed just before the Falgun 21 elections, made Ruby a member of the House of Representatives. After being elected as an MP through the proportional system in the House of Representatives, she said that she would learn the country’s central politics by staying in parliament. After being elected, she said, ‘I have a lot to learn. I don’t know much about politics, but I will always work for my constituency and society.’
Ruby, who became an MP in this way, has become the Deputy Speaker with the proposal of the Shram Sanskriti Party and the support of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the largest party in the House of Representatives. The nomination period for the post of Deputy Speaker was set for Thursday from 11 am to 2 pm. The Shram Sanskriti Party, which initially submitted its nomination papers, registered Ruby's nomination as the deadline was approaching.
Ruby's supporter included party chairman Hark Sampang, but since he was returning from Darchula, the name was crossed out and the name of MP Aren Rai of the same party was written. Ashok Kumar Chaudhary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangharva and Ambikadevi Sangraula of Shram Sanskriti were among the supporters. MP Kabindra Burlakoti, who is also the General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangharva, also reached the Parliament Secretariat to register Ruby's candidacy.
While General Secretary Burlakoti was present at Ruby's nomination registration and RPP MP Chaudhary was signing the nomination papers, the RPP was also claiming that it had the support of the RPP. RPP's Saraswati Lama had also registered her nomination for the post of Deputy Speaker. While Ruby was filing her nomination, RPP parliamentary party leader Gyan Bahadur Shahi was telling the media, "Ravi Lamichhane himself called. The party president himself asked her to file her candidacy, and we have our support, so we have filed it. Now, what else do they do?"
Shahi said that the party had nominated tribal MP Lama as the deputy speaker's candidate at the request of RPP president Lamichhane. The decision to nominate Lama was made after the RPP parliamentary party meeting. Although there was talk of Khusbu Oli from the RPP for the deputy speaker position, she had expressed her reluctance to become a candidate in the party meeting. Ruby said that she got a 'surprise' after filing her nomination. She said that she did not even know that she would become an MP through proportional representation, but she has now become the deputy speaker. "The RPP did not support her, they have also given her a surprise by supporting her," Ruby said.
After filing her nomination, Ruby also thanked party chairman Sampang. She also explained the reason for her gratitude to chairman Sampang, saying, "You have brought me to this level as a grassroots person."
Ruby says that she did not plan to enter politics, but she got involved in the Gen-G movement because she felt that she had to do something through this field. "I did not plan to enter politics at first, but after the Gen-G movement, I felt that I would also do something as a daughter of Madhesh. There are many issues and problems in Madhesh, including the dowry system. I stood for proportional representation to see if something could be done to end those things. I will work so that the country does not have to suffer what it has suffered so far," she said.
Party chairman Sampang is returning to Kathmandu from Darchula via Dhangadhi. He wrote about Ruby's achievements on the social media Facebook while on the way, "I will not congratulate you, because I congratulate you only after you have done good deeds. You will not remain a party member throughout your term. You will become a member of the entire country. Never forget your birth father. A tree that forgets its roots will wither. All the best Ruby Nani.' After being elected as the Deputy Speaker, one has to end their affiliation with the party.
Sampang, who is in Darchula, had discussed the matter of making Ruby the Deputy Speaker with the leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Burlakoti said, 'We had a discussion with Chairman Sampang about the Deputy Speaker on Wednesday evening. We were also talking to others. In the last 10 minutes before the nomination was filed, we reached the decision to support the candidate of the Shram Sanskriti Party.'
The NCP has also supported the candidate of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Ruby. The NCP, which is claiming the post of Deputy Speaker, has expressed its support for Ruby since the NCP will not get the support of the RSP and Sampang will put forward a candidate. However, the NCP is not a formal supporter. The Congress and the UML did not field candidates for the Deputy Speaker post.
Ruby, who never imagined becoming an MP, also said that she feels that the burden of the position has become a little bigger along with her happiness after taking on the responsibility. ‘I never imagined it, until now. I am feeling happy, I have been given a bit of a big responsibility, but I can do it.’ Saying that the country has given her the responsibility of Deputy Speaker, she also expressed her commitment to successfully fulfill the responsibilities that come with that position.
Ruby, who is about to become Deputy Speaker, was born on 18 Chaitra 2056. She is a native of Thakur Basti in Majheliya, Dhanusha. Ruby has only been in politics for two months. After completing her 3-year diploma (engineering) from Balra Polytechnic in Dhanusha and working in a material architecture consultancy, she joined the Shram Sanskriti Party after meeting Sampang. Ruby, who is one of the youngest MPs in the House of Representatives, has also become an MP at a young age to become Deputy Speaker. Her father Sograth Thakur is in Saudi Arabia for employment, while mother Renu Thakur is a housewife. Her family has been cultivating two bighas of land under the title.
Ruby, who became an MP after doing technical work such as mapping, 2D and 3D design for 7 months, has now become the country's Deputy Speaker. She will participate in the Constitutional Council along with Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Chief Justice, Speaker DP Aryal, National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal, and leaders of the main opposition parties. The council will recommend appointments to the Supreme Court judges and the Constitutional Commission. Along with these appointments, she will also be able to play a role in lawmaking in Parliament.
