The election of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives is scheduled to be held on Friday, Chaitra 27.
Speaker DP Aryal has set the date for the election of the Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives' meeting on Wednesday.
While setting the date, Speaker Aryal said in the House of Representatives' meeting, 'I have set the date for the election of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives as Friday, Chaitra 27, 2082.'
Speaker Aryal had instructed Secretary of the House of Representatives, Harkaraj Rai, to issue a notice regarding the election of the Deputy Speaker.
DP Aryal of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. According to the provisions of the constitution, the Deputy Speaker should be from a party other than the RSS and a woman. Leaders have said that the RSS, which has almost two-thirds of the seats in the House of Representatives, has not yet decided which party to appoint the Deputy Speaker from.
Since the Deputy Speaker will also be a member of the Constitutional Council, political parties are in discussions with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to secure this post.
The date for filing nominations for the Deputy Speaker position has been fixed for Chaitra 26 from 11 am to 2 pm. The list of candidates is scheduled to be published at 2:30 pm.
The election of the Speaker will be held in the House of Representatives at 4 pm on Friday.
