Nepali Congress General Secretary Pradeep Poudel has urged the former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife and former Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba to return home and help in the investigation. An arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday against Deuba and his wife and former Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba in the money laundering investigation. As the government prepares to issue a red notice to arrest and bring back the Deuba couple, who are on the absconding list, Nepali Congress General Secretary Poudel has urged them to return home and help in the investigation. His secretariat had informed that the Deuba couple, who had gone to Singapore before the 21 Falgun elections, had gone to Hong Kong some time ago. There was no information given about whether they returned to Singapore or remained in Hong Kong after that.
Poudel has urged the government to proceed with the money laundering investigation against the Deuba couple in a fair and independent manner. During the Gen-G rebellion, a large amount of Nepali and foreign currency notes were found burnt during the arson attack on Deuba's house in Budhanilkantha on Bhadra 24. Deuba had denied it, saying it was made by AI.
‘Whether it was made by AI or not, we will know only after an investigation. Let there be an investigation. No matter how many big leaders of the party are involved in any corruption scandal, the party will cooperate in an impartial and independent investigation,’ Poudel said. ‘Our demand is that it be in accordance with the law and procedure, not based on political vendetta.’
