UML MP Lila Kumari Bhandari has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly unopposed.

The proposal presented by MP Prem Prasad Dangal to elect MP Bhandari as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly was unanimously passed in the National Assembly meeting held on Monday. National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal announced that Bhandari was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly unopposed.

On that occasion, the Speaker congratulated the newly elected Deputy Speaker Bhandari and wished her success in her term. UML MP Bhandari was elected as the Deputy Speaker unopposed with the agreement of the Congress, NCP and other parties. She has also held the position of a member of the Constituent Assembly and Minister of State for Education, Science and Technology.
