UML has corrected the statement made by Vice President and Parliamentary Party Leader Ram Bahadur Thapa in Parliament about the Nepali Army, bureaucracy and the international community.

The Secretariat meeting held at the Central Office, Chyasal on Friday corrected Thapa's statement. 'The meeting has made it clear that our party's relations with the Nepali Army, all security agencies of the state, civil administration (bureaucracy) and the international community, which were formed in accordance with the country's constitution and prevailing laws, remain unchanged and friendly, and such relations will be further strengthened in the future,' the decision of the meeting said.

After the meeting, Deputy Secretary General Lekhraj Bhatta said that although party leader Thapa's statement was not wrong, some contradictions were seen. 'What came in Parliament, there was a serious discussion, Thapa's statement was not wrong. There was a serious discussion on the contradictions seen in it,' he said. 'What the party leader said in Parliament, it seems that he did not accept the public opinion, so we have made it clear that we respect the people's opinion. The army, employees and international relations will remain what they were in the past.'

The meeting congratulated Prime Minister Balendra Shah and thanked all those who conducted the election.'It has briefly reviewed the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21, 2082 and has congratulated all those who won, respecting the public opinion expressed through the election. 

'It has congratulated Honorable Prime Minister Balendra Shah and the Council of Ministers led by him for being able to form a government under his leadership with an overwhelming majority,' said a statement issued by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel. 'It has thanked all voters, Election Commission, security agencies, civil servants, election police, observers, media persons, civil society and all those involved who participated in the election.'

On Thursday, Thapa, who is also the working vice-chairman, had accused the Nepali Army, bureaucracy and foreign powers of achieving a 'magical victory'.

Thapa had caused a huge stir within the UML after he said that the then Sushila Karki government, the Nepali Army, employees, foreign powers and some NGOs were involved in the Gen-G movement of Bhadra 23, the demolition of Bhadra 24 and the election results of Falgun 21.

While Chairman KP Sharma Oli was in police custody, Thapa had become the leader of the parliamentary party on Wednesday and presented the UML's views in the parliament meeting on Thursday. He had accused the 'state and various powers' of trying to win the National Independent Party in the election.

'Numerous facts make it clear who played the decisive role in this magical victory,' Thapa had said, 'Invisible powers TOB, AI, algorithms, Goebbels who established the heroes of nationalism, democracy, republic, federalism, peace and prosperity as cowardly villains and murderers. He made a villain who burned the country and erased his own national identity a great hero.'

UML establishment members have objected to Thapa's presentation, saying it was like a 'wartime Maoist' and that he accused the army and employees without any basis. Leaders close to Oli are silent on Thapa's statement. Vice President Bishnu Poudel had commented that Thapa's 'opinions expressed by Ram Bahadur Thapa as a party leader are against the party's founding policies and beliefs'. However, before speaking in parliament, he had consulted with Chairman Oli and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.  Although the issues raised by Thapa are politically correct, leaders outside the establishment say that the issue of dragging the army and employees into controversy by state bodies is 'personal'.

Vice President Bishnu Poudel, Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, and leader Surendra Pandey have objected to Thapa's statement. The establishment side, however, stated that the political issues Thapa raised in Parliament were in accordance with party policy, but the allegations against state organs were personal. 

Secretary Aryal said that although party leader Thapa's political issues regarding the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 and the elections were not wrong, the issues targeting state organs, the army and employees were personal.  

'The political issues raised by party leader Ram Bahadur Thapa in Parliament came from discussions,' she said, 'The issues raised about state stakeholders are his personal matters.'
