Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has proposed holding a unity general convention within six months.
After the unification of the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist Party in October last year, he formally proposed the general convention.
On Thursday, he proposed the general convention in writing to the Central Coordination Committee. 'The party's unity national general convention will be held within the next six months,' the proposal he put forward states.
He said that the NCP should immediately move forward by making a concrete action plan for organizational, ideological, economic and technical work. 'The party's reorganization and transformation campaign has to be carried out extensively,' he said in a proposal to complete the organization's adjustment and construction. 'It is necessary to reorganize and transform the party organization and the party-affiliated mass organizations in a new way. For that, all organizations up to the municipal level will be adjusted within a month and new organizations will be formed in places where they do not exist, and organizations will be formed in all wards within three months.'
He has announced that the party membership will be renewed within three months and that ward, municipality, district and provincial conventions will be held within five months. 'It is necessary to restructure and transform not only the party organization but also the leadership. For that, we should also make a concrete action plan and move forward,' the proposal states.
Similarly, the NCP is preparing to move forward with a concrete action plan, saying that it is necessary to improve the working style, lifestyle and conduct of the party leaders and cadres.
He presented a review of the election in the meeting. 'The election has been completed. The results were not positive in our favor. But we respect the people's mandate and accept the results, support the good deeds of the government and oppose the wrong deeds and play the role of a constructive opposition in parliament,' he said. 'We, the forces in favor of the Twelve-Point and Comprehensive Peace Agreement, the forces that drafted the constitution through the democratic republic and the Constituent Assembly, must unite in protecting national independence, protecting the achievements of the revolution and the issues of the people. Our party will coordinate and lead for this unity and cooperation.'
He said that in the new context, we will make the NCP a technology-friendly party and carry out a comprehensive reorganization of the party from top to bottom. 'We will complete this campaign through the general convention. Similarly, we will lead the unity process with the communist, leftist and socialist parties,' he said.
Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal said that instead of being disturbed and disappointed by the election results, we will move forward in a new way with high morale and enthusiasm in the new situation. 'Now, purification, comprehensive reorganization and renaissance in the party have become mandatory,' he said.
