Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary Udaya Shumsher Rana has said that the future of the country will be safe and move in the right direction only if the party is united. Joint General Secretary Rana has publicly appealed for unity in the Congress.

'We have a proud history of the Nepali Congress moving forward with unity, restraint and commitment every time the country has gone through challenging times,' he said. 'Differences in ideas and perspectives are natural in democratic practice, but making them the basis for division is not our culture. As a responsible worker, I humbly urge all my friends to have an open dialogue, strengthen mutual trust and move forward unitedly. Only our unity will strengthen the trust of the people and move the country and our future in a safe and right direction.'
Joint General Secretary Rana's response came after former President Sher Bahadur Deuba's faction in the Nepali Congress, led by Purna Bahadur Khadka, engaged in parallel activities.
