Bishnumaya Bik, born on 15 Asho 2030 in Salbesighari, Shuklagandaki Municipality-9, knows what sorrow and struggle are. She has not only seen how her mother Phulmati Bik and father Harilal Bik raised their 4 children amidst deprivation, but she has also experienced it herself.

Born into a very poor family, her childhood was very difficult. She experienced sorrow, deprivation and struggle from a young age. Despite the difficult circumstances, she continued her studies. She has a master's degree in sociology.
She was excellent in studies and did not have to be second from 1st to 10th grade. Being a diligent student, she got the opportunity to study for free due to a scholarship. If she had not received the scholarship, her education would have stopped at the school level. Even though education was free, she used to give tuition to her younger siblings to buy pens. BK had started earning her living expenses from the 6th/7th grade.
She completed her basic education from the village primary school. She completed her secondary education from Gaunfarkodaya Secondary School, Dhorfirdi. Then she completed her higher education from Prithvi Narayan Campus.
She had a political consciousness from her student life. She started her political journey by becoming a member of the fifth section of ANRFSU in school from 2045. In 2049, she became a member of the initial committee of Prithvi Narayan Campus and in the same year, she joined the UML party. In 2051, she became a member of the National Council of Akhil, and in 2054, she became a member of the National Council of ANRFSU.
She got married in 2056 BS and moved to Tehrathum. After marriage, she remained active in party politics and in 2060 BS she became a member of the UML Tehrathum District Committee and the Deputy Secretary of the All Nepal Women's Association District Committee.
She became a member of the Koshi Zonal Committee in 2063 BS, a member of the All Nepal Women's Association Central Committee and District In-charge in 2063 BS, and continued her political journey by taking on the responsibilities given by the party.
She was elected a central member from the 10th and 11th National General Conventions and was in-charge of Tehrathum District and was elected as a proportional member from UML in the 2082 House of Representatives elections.
For about 6 years after her marriage, she also worked as a teacher in a private school in Tehrathum. Later, she left her teaching profession and became fully active in politics.
Maiti Shuklagandaki-9, Tanahun and her home is in Tehrathum, but she currently lives in Kathmandu with her husband and daughter.
She says that being born in a hut and overcoming poverty, suffering and struggle to reach the central politics of the country based on education and political awareness is the greatest achievement in her life. She said, ‘Even after being born in that hut, I was able to study, I gained political awareness and that awareness brought me here today.’
She said, ‘I have come here as a member of the House of Representatives.’ In the coming days, I plan to take all possible initiatives to lead the country on the path of prosperity.’
