Senior member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Singh KC, has assumed office at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar. He took the oath of office and secrecy from President Ram Chandra Poudel today.
The senior member has assumed the responsibility as the Speaker at a time when preparations are underway to form a new government and convene a session of the Parliament after the election of members of the House of Representatives held on 21 Falgun. Senior member KC was welcomed by high officials of the Parliament Secretariat.
The Parliament Secretariat is scheduled to administer the oath of office to the remaining 274 newly elected members of the House of Representatives by senior member KC tomorrow, Thursday. Senior member KC will preside over the Parliament meeting until the election of a new Speaker.
